No matter how fast battery technology improves, the simple fact is that the flight duration of drones is limited by the need to swap batteries. Spare batteries and charging hubs make it possible to spend less time on the ground before getting back in the air. But the FUSE Tether System can keep a Matrice 200 series drone or a DJI Inspire flying for hours — even indefinitely.

That’s highly beneficial to inspectors of large buildings and bridges; for engineers gathering data for maps or surveying a property; and for emergency personnel using a drone to serve as a temporary cell tower or radio relay, or to help secure a perimeter.

You control the drone. The FUSE system feeds the tether and automatically keeps it taught. A tethered drone actually has more resistance to crosswinds than a free-flying drone.

Every FUSE Tether System:

  • Derives power from your 110v gasoline- or diesel-driven generator, including small, portable generators
  • Alternatively draws power from DAC automotive current
  • Connects to the drone by a power-supplying line
  • Is compatible with drones in the DJI Matrice 200 and DJI Inspire lines
  • Automatically keeps the line taught
  • Allows the drone to travel up to 200 feet
  • Keeps the drone aloft as long as you feed the generator
  • Feeds a backup battery onboard the drone in case power generation is interrupted
  • Stays sheltered in a hard case
Stay Aloft as Long as You Need

Some jobs just require a long time in the air.

Good examples are the inspection of a large bridge or building, or the flight of a drone to gather information for surveying and generating maps. Fly your Matrice for hours using the tether system, then release it and fly off batteries for areas that the tether won’t reach. You also can relocate the tether system to expand the area covered.

Serving Emergency Teams

In remote areas, or in the aftermath of a disaster, power for charging batteries may not be available. With a generator and the tether, or just with electrical current from your car or truck and the FUSE Tether System, you can keep the drone aloft for hours.

Perhaps normal communications are unavailable. A properly equipped drone may be used as a temporary cell tower or for relaying radio signals. In that case, staying aloft is critical, and only the tether lets you do it.

After a terrorist attack or in a hostage situation, keeping an eye out around a base of operations becomes necessary. Again, it’s a tethered drone that provides an uninterrupted, prolonged view from an effective altitude.

News Crews’ Eye in the Sky

For a news crew trying to keep coverage of a developing story live — a crime scene, a derailment, an air crash, a flood, a festival with a sea of attendees — a FUSE tethered drone can stay aloft for hours and send video to transmitting equipment in the news van. A tethered drone can see over police lines that reporters on foot can’t cross. It can see the runners in a marathon approaching the finish line. The tethered drone can see a swollen river far beyond the blockades set up by emergency teams.

A tethered drone with a high-definition camera can stay aloft long after deadline, preparing for the next scheduled news show or for broadcast bulletins. Drones equipped with zoom lens cameras will stay close to the action.
