DJI has just announced the new Spark which is touted as their most affordable and user friendly drone on the market. There has been a lot of hype in the recent months regarding what DJI was going to release and almost as expected, they have once again revolutionised the industry. This time it’s for the consumer who is interested in a more affordable and easy to use drone.
The DJI Spark is a mini-drone about the size of an iPhone that is capable of big things. Providing intelligent flight control options, a two-axis gimbal and a camera capable of 1080p full HD video and 12 megapixel stills. This is a perfect product for those looking to dive into the drone world without breaking the bank. Weighing in at less than 300 grams, the DJI Spark packs a punch allowing 16 minutes of flight time, speeds of up to 50 km/h and a range of 100m with your phone or 2km with the remote controller add-on option.
The standard features you’ll find in the DJI Go app work seamlessly with this little powerhouse including Quickshot, TapFly, Gesture and the popular ActiveTrack which will follow you around while you’re on the move. DJI has created another 2 features to suit the Spark including FaceAware and Gesture Control making flying a drone easier than ever before. Want to take off from the palm of your hand by having the drone recognise your face? You got it! How about controlling the drone with a wave of your hand and take selfies by making a frame with your fingers? No problem! This drone does all the work for you.
Along with it’s size, the other thing DJI managed to shrink was the price. Starting at $859 it’s their most affordable drone to date. If you’re looking to immerse yourself further into the Spark life you can opt for the Fly More Combo costing $1,199.00 which will give you a remote control, 2 more batteries, additional propellers, propeller guards, battery charging hub and a shoulder bag to carry it all in.
The last thing you have to decide on is which colour you like the best. The Spark is available in Alpine White, Sky Blue, Meadow Green, Lava Red and Sunrise Yellow. The estimated release date for the Spark (Alpine White) is June 15th, 2017 but if you are looking for more colour than just the white option, the wait time is a little longer (TBA).
