When 3DR released the Solo late last year it was the first drone to feature Smart Shots. This allowed pilots to set up Cable Cam's between two points, orbit around a subject, pull out for an impressive selfie and even Follow Me mode so you didn't have to worry about the drone.

Now at the CES 2016 show 3DR have released some very exciting updates for all Solo flyers.

Multipoint Cable Cam

3DR have release Multipoint Cable Cam so that Solo flyers can set an infinite amount of set points and camera positions and Solo will seamlessly flow between all of these points with precision. This unlocks a whole new era of complicated moves for photographers and cinematographers to experiment with.

You can engage in Multipoint Cable Cam in 3 Ways :

1) Work the camera freely whilst Solo flies between all the keyframed points

2) Fly Solo along the cable yourself and let the smooth camera tweening work the camera

3) Or just press play and let Solo work both

Freelock

Freelock allows Solo to fly in follow mode but give the operator complete control over where the camera is positioned. The best example is to imagine you are in a car following a motor-cross rider and you program the drone to follow you in the car but instead of the camera looking at you, you can point the camera at the rider. It's as if 3DR have created a way of achieving what would normally require two drone operators and now you can do it all by yourself.
